Desktop Chrome helper · pilot 0.2.2
Connect your first service.
Check your device before installing
The helper needs Chrome 120 or later on a desktop or laptop. Mobile Chrome and the in-app browser cannot install this extension. You can still use the Renulio website on your phone; reading provider billing pages with the helper happens in desktop Chrome.
Start with one existing paid ChatGPT, Netflix, YouTube Premium or Spotify account. Disney+ is experimental until paid-account extraction has been checked. Other services can be recorded in the ledger, but this helper cannot connect to them.
From your account to a reviewed entry
Start with one service: ChatGPT, Netflix, YouTube Premium, Spotify or Disney+. The Chrome helper reads the visible billing details you allow and shares them with your signed-in Renulio dashboard. You review the fields and select Save yourself.
Disney+ is a new pilot reader: its no-subscription state was checked on a real account, but paid price and renewal extraction still need a real paid-account test. This pilot is installed manually and is not yet published in the Chrome Web Store. It never makes payments, cancels services or overwrites your subscriptions automatically. Reading a page does not verify a payment, and some billing details may be unavailable.
1. Install the helper
- Download Renulio Account Helper 0.2.2 and extract the ZIP into a folder you will keep.
- Open
chrome://extensionsin Chrome and turn on Developer mode. - Select Load unpacked and choose the extracted folder containing
manifest.json. You should now see a Renulio Account Helper card. Pin the helper from Chrome’s extensions menu (the puzzle icon).
Return to your Renulio dashboard and reload it. The guide checks the installed helper before moving to pairing. Installation alone does not give access to a provider.
2. Choose a service and confirm pairing
In your signed-in dashboard, select Connect a service and choose ChatGPT, Netflix, YouTube Premium, Spotify or Disney+. The helper opens a connection window for that service. If this browser is not paired with your Renulio account, check the requesting account and select Confirm pairing there.
Pairing belongs to one Renulio account and this Chrome profile. Switching the paired account clears previous captures and service permissions; saved subscriptions stay unchanged. If the request expires, start again from Connect a service.
3. Allow access and open billing
In the helper connection window, select Allow & open for your chosen service and approve Chrome’s permission for its domain. Its billing page opens after approval. This permission belongs to the Chrome helper; it is not an official provider OAuth connection.
If access is already enabled, selecting the service in Renulio opens its billing page directly. Choosing a service never grants new access automatically. You can still use Enable & open or Open billing in the helper popup.
4. Read the billing page
Sign in directly with the provider if asked. Keep the billing page visible while its details load and expand the membership details if needed. Return to Renulio and select Check for captures if the capture has not appeared.
- ChatGPT: Settings → Billing. For the recurring price, open Change plan and leave the card marked Your current plan visible. You do not need to select or switch plans. This card reader currently recognises that English marker. For an OpenAI-branded billing portal, use Read this billing tab once in the helper. API billing is separate.
- Netflix: Account → membership/billing details. Use the account that owns the membership. A page asking you to start or finish signing up does not show an active paid renewal.
- YouTube Premium: Purchases and memberships → Manage membership. Current price and an explicitly announced next charge stay separate; upgrade offers are excluded.
- Spotify: Account overview or subscription details. A Free account has no paid renewal to import.
- Disney+: Account → Subscriptions & Billing. Only this section is read. No active subscriptions means no paid renewal; paid details remain unverified in this pilot.
No capture yet? Check that the service is enabled in the helper, that you are signed in to the correct provider account and that you opened a supported billing view. Renulio cannot infer your login status from an absent capture. Reload that billing page to try again.
5. Review and save
Select Review in the guide or the service card. A single recognised existing entry is suggested; otherwise add a new subscription or explicitly choose the matching entry. Check the amount, billing cycle and full renewal date against your account before selecting Save.
The next charge is used only when explicitly shown. Otherwise the amount is the recurring plan price, which may differ from the next charge. Missing years, ambiguous dates, conflicting prices and third-party billing need your confirmation. Unknown fields keep their recorded values when editing and stay unfilled in a new entry.
Opening or cancelling the review changes nothing. The guide shows Your reviewed entry is saved only after a successful save in that dashboard session; matching captured and recorded fields alone do not complete this step.
Updates and connection help
Update an existing installation
Replace the files in your existing extension folder with the new release, select Reload on its card in chrome://extensions, and reload the dashboard and billing pages. You do not need to disconnect, pair again or re-enable services that remain enabled. Earlier captures stay visible but need a fresh read with 0.2.2 before review. Disney+ is a separate optional permission; it stays disabled until you enable it.
The popup shows its version and the worker version. If they differ, actions pause and a restart button appears. Restarting preserves pairing and permissions. The dashboard’s Connected helper version shows the release actually responding. Under Troubleshoot an update, compare the installation ID with Chrome’s extension details if multiple copies are installed.
Access and storage
Chrome grants access separately to each provider’s domain; the helper restricts extraction to billing views. Credentials, cookies, card details, email addresses, invoices and page copies are not saved or transmitted. Visible text is processed on your device and discarded. Retained fields are provider, recognised plan, amounts, currency, cycle, renewal date, warning codes, a safe provider link, capture time and reader version.
Captures stay in this Chrome profile for up to seven days. Only subscription fields you review and save are sent to your existing Renulio account storage. The guide’s save acknowledgement lasts only for the current dashboard session; it is not retained billing evidence.
Enabled pages are read while open and visible and when their details change. There is no unattended cloud polling or guaranteed background schedule. Provider layout changes can prevent extraction.
Disable clears that provider’s capture and permission. Disconnect clears all captures, permissions and pairing. Pairing another account clears previous captures and requires enabling providers again. Removing the extension clears browser storage; saved Renulio records remain.
